Evaluation.

For this project we were asked to do a peice revolving around one of the worlds problem topic list , or my own world problem if approved by the teacher. I decided to do Anger problems because it is something that I used to struggle with when I was a child. The research that I did was secondry I looked at a couple of diffrent types of anger like Passive anger, and Aggressive anger. I also looked at things that could cause anger for example Stress, abuse, overwhelming requirements on your energy and time, and more. I then went onto look at ten celebritys who suffer with anger problems.
I also looke at some peoples representation of anger and decided to pick one of the many to use for inspiration.

by Katie Szadziwska
I found it to be inspiring because it represents wrath one of the seven deadly sins I planed to use something similar but my idea changed multiple times.( the final piece had nothing in common with this)

The reason behind how I desined my images went through many phases and ideas.

I setled on the bottom one because it shows how people put on a facade, a mask, or just use a diffrent persona complety, to hide the real emotions going off in your head. The final design was a rough sketched silhouette. The roughness  was meant to represent that nobody is perfect, and the black silhouette was meant to look like a blank canvas with only the brain standing out being the only thing white and and filled up to represent the emotion displayed (happiness and anger).
The colors I originally planned to usein the brain where blue (Happiness)and red(anger) the  brain would also have objects or symbols representing the emotion, the brain representing happiness was filled with objects related to happiness, like friends, family, and more. Anger color scheme changed turning grey and had clouds with lightning coming out of it and a feild on fire.(as shown in the picture below)

Once agin the idea changed after constructive critism from one of the teachers. They told me the brain for happiness looked to cramped and could give the idea of a busy mind, then suggested to make it simpler and use one thing in each brain. They also suggested gradients. I once again change the colors happiness changed from blue to green because blue looked sad, and the anger brain went back to red. The gradients helped represent anger more because it looks like the tempreture is rising to a boiling point. The symbol in the happiness head changed from over filled to just the happy emoji and the anger brain to a exclamation mark and question mark which is used to represent anger in a book. (shown in picture below.)

I used a graphics tablet to create the silhouette and overall design. I used the pen tool to draw everything, and we created rectangles and stacked them nect to each other, then we selected our main colour which was a dark red, we then used the colour dropper, and used a gradient of the same colour for the remaning rectangle. We then pulled all the rectanguler layers behind the sillhouette, and merged all the rectangles togther and then erased any over spill that came out of the silhouette. that is how we did the gradient. This was all done in photoshop

I learnt how to make gradients whhich is detailed in the paragraph above I also developed my drawing skills on the graphics tablet.

My time management started off slow because I couldn't think off any ideas but once I got my idea I zoomed ahead and got my work done on the deadline I set for my self or before, I managed to finish the work a week before it was meant to be complete.

I am extremly happy with my work because people helped me develop it and make it better then the original. the teahers and my friends gave me constructive critism on my work and support.

I would change anything with my work I think it is the best I can get it to be,I changed it so much aswell during development of the design.

I didn't encounter many problems with the work the only problems that did happen where the layers in photoshop because I kept moving them without relizing and it kept mucking up, but I got it sorted.

My work was targeted for teens, the symbols are something teens encounter alot in social media like facebook and in english lessons and books. The website I used is targeted to parents, it can help them understand and help there child with the problem.

I felt nervouse presenting my work but I also felt confident in my work I got peer feed back from my friends to show at the end of the presentation.

Comparrison

New Original

As we can see my Idea changed a lot from the original. The original was bright in the happiness section and detailed but was overcrowded so there wasn't any part of it you could focus on. The anger in the original was good a representing anger with the fire and lightning and the grey color but it was boring and plain. Charlotte looked at my work and looked at how it could be improved and told me to add gradients to it, the happines then turned from a crowded blue background to a green gradient back ground. Anger turned from the boring grey background to gradients of red. After editing the work to have the diffrent background we thought to use less and more simple ideas to represent anger and happiness. I put the smile emoji in the happiness box so there is less in there and isn't as crowded and is a simpler way to represent happiness. Anger at the exclamation mark and question mark which is often used in text to represnt anger, this once again made the brain less crowded but still represented anger in a simpler form.

Improvement for work

Improvement to work. Charlotte has told me somethings I could use to improve my work.
The head thaT represents happines could be less crowded because of how full it is, this could make peopl think the head is still crowded and busy.

Another Idea she gave me was to put gradient into the colors used in the heads (Example drawn by Charlotte)
The blue would be used in the happiness and the red in the anger.
We both thought with the gradient color change we could put just on simple thing related to the emotion, like a smiley face in the happiness (the kind you use in facebook) and a exclamation mark and question mark in the anger (because
that is usally used to represent anger.

This I a quick representation of one of the ideas we had showing only half of what I planned to do with the feed back. this shows the gradient of red in the head of anger the brain heating up.

This is the other half of the design showing the gradients with green instead of blue for happiness like it was originally planed. the smiley face represents happiness.

This is the second design completed.

steps of poster

My poster Is do with anger managment. I portray this in the picture showing how the brain could be fine one moment, and the next not. It could also be used to represent how people can put a facade or a diffrent persona to hide the anger raginginside them.

The first step I did the Sketch of the side of a human face (Silhouete), I sketched the faces using a graphics tablet.

The second step I did was color the Silhouetes in black leaving a space in the middle for the brain  shown on the left side of the picture.
The third step was to color the right brain in red a color associated with anger.

The fourth step shows the left heads brain colored in  blue to show the facde of happiness. I did think about doing it in a rainbow but dedided that it might not be clear what I was drawing in the head.

The firth step was to draw things that you would link to happiness in the blue brain for example a flower, the sun, friends.

The sixth step I added objects that could represent or be associated with anger in to the right brain which. shows how the brain could fell like a storm.

The seventh step was to add the text in and put the finishing touches in.

I used these Images of silhouettes so I could get an Idea on how to draw them on to paper.

Rough sketch so  I know what I need to draw on the computer.

I used the images above to use as a rough example on how to draw the face side on and then Drew the outline of the brain and made it a blank canvas so I could draw the emotions in the outline (A facade and anger.

The Faces are blacked out so that you will focus on the canvas (brain) Because all details outside the face are not necessary because it would all be a facade/ mask to hide how you try to feel (a different persona)

The bigger head is a representation of anger and how it can overpower happiness. I represented anger with an angry devil An erupting volcano and the words shut up (How my brain fells when angry. The smaller brain is happiness and how it can belittled by anger. I represented happiness with multiple things that can multiple people happy like the sun, love, sleep,Laughing and food.

Propasal

we had the choice of choosing a social, ethical issue to base our project around, The choice I made was for Anger problems. We also had the choice of making it a photo graphical representation, or a graphical representation. I chose the graphical representation because i feel that my skills in drawing and graphics are stronger than my photography skills.
My first idea is to draw/create is  a person looking into a mirror , the actual person is smiling and happy whilst the reflection is showing the person's true emotions which are anger and pain. This is shown through the facial expression of the reflected person.
My second idea was to draw two faces , facing each other , but the faces are showing the thoughts of the brain. The left face will show happiness and joy and the right face shows destruction , sorrow and anger.
My third idea is how i feel myself when i get angry , the drawing shows a person who is angry but it also shows a thought bubble which shows a person in a corner crying and curled up because they fear themselves due to the anger .

The way my work will  be presented will be in a power point because I can put brief bits of information  and expand on it with my own knowledge and show my final product.

  Anger problems
Research

[1]Some people might think there is only one type of anger which would just be anger but it isn't there are multiple. for example Passive anger, Chronic anger, Overwhelmed anger,Aggressive anger, and many more.

[1]Passive anger: when you might not realize they are angry. when people experience this type of anger, they emotions you display might be displayed as sarcasm, apathy or meanness. This can lead to self-defeating behavior , for example skipping school, alienating yourself from people. To the outside world they will think you are purposely sabotaging your life, but in reality you might no realize that your doing it or be able to explain your actions.

[1]Aggressive anger: the people who experience aggressive anger are usually aware of their emotions, although they won't always understand why they're angry. In some case they might direct their outburst of anger at people and use them as a scapegoat because they might not be able to  deal with the real problem at hand. Aggressive anger might often manifest as volatile or retaliatory anger, and could result in damage to property or other people.

[1]What could cause anger.
The persons environment e.g. Stress, abuse, overwhelming requirements on your energy and time, and more, can contribute to anger being formed. Genetics could also play a part to anger as well such as how your body has the ability to deal with certain chemicals and hormones. Your brain might not be able to react normally to serotonin, you could find it more difficult to manage your emotions.
